Those looking to kickoff the summer fun for the Memorial Day weekend can look to Verona Beach State Park and Delta Lake State Park.
Verona Beach State Park will be open Saturday, Sunday, and Monday for Memorial Day Weekend. The cost is $7 per vehicle and swimming will be open all three days. On top of this, the splash pad is open for the season and Teddy’s Treats opens its doors Saturday as it marks its ninth season providing snacks and supplies to beachgoers.
Verona Beach State Park, located on the eastern shore of Oneida Lake, can be a picnicker’s and camper’s delight. Shaded picnic areas and the campground are adjacent to the beach with a view of the water. The lake, Black Creek, cattail marshes, and bottomland hardwood swamps give Verona Beach a diverse aquatic habitats in the Central Region, and offers a unqiue hike on the “Woods and Wetland” nature trail. The 13 miles of hiking trails are open year round.
The pavilion opens on June 4 and camping opens on June 17. The beach will be open on weekends only until June 18 and then open seven days a week until Sept. 5.

Delta Lake State Park, in Western, will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday and will be charging $7 per vehicle from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The beach will be open those three days from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The campground is currently open for the season.
Delta Lake State Park is located on a peninsula extending into Delta Reservoir. Visitors will find the terrain is wooded and generally flat. Year-round visitors can enjoy the day in one of many picnic areas, or on one of the many hiking and nature trails. There is also a boat launch and shoreline fishing for trout, pike, bass, bullhead and perch. Campers can enjoy tent, trailer or RV camping sites.

The weekend may get off to a wet start, with showers likely on Saturday and high temperatures expected to remain in the lower 70s. Heading into Sunday, the rain clouds are expected to clear with partly to mostly sunny skies and slightly warmer temperatures.
For those heading out to the beach on Monday, bring along some sunscreen and some cool drinks. Memorial Day is expected to be sunny and warm with high temperatures likely to climb into the upper 80s.
